About Emma Godemont

Emma Godemont is an African/Belgian (choral). She received her bachelor’s degree in 2020. In her childhood Godemont played the piano and sang in different choirs. She experiences every day the connecting power of music by singing, conducting and playing music. Emma likes her work as a (guest) conductor.

In the past she participated in opera productions, she followed masterclasses in choir conducting and orchestra conducting. Godemont has been active as a guest conductor and conducted a variety of classical choirs.

Her collaboration with the choir De Betties is now her main conducting activity and has a big influence on her career. De Betties is an intergenerational choir. There are young and old members, from children from the local school, people suffering from dementia, buddy’s, volunteers and friends.

It is especially leading De Betties that makes Emma think about the role of a conductor, choir singing in general and the power of connecting (vulnerable) people by making music together.

Her ambition is to empower human beings by making music together. Godemont’s mission is to break down boundaries and to encourage integration in society by making music.

I love De Betties, powerful as they are
thanks to their vulnerability.
